The Twilight Zone
was one of the best television anthology series of America. The
creator of this excellent TV series was Rod Serling. The total number
of episodes in the full series was 156 and every episode was better
than the previous one. The combination of fantasy, science fiction,
horror, and suspense were added in every episode. Most of the
episodes ended with an unusual twist. After the cancelation of this
series, huge interest in science fictions and abstract ideas were
introduced in American peoples mind. As well as the spread of
literature on Twilight Zone was also the result of this series. The
tradition of older radio programs like The Weird Circle and X Minus
One were followed by the series of The Twilight Zone.
After the great
success of the original series people were inspired to rebuild it and
make another part of the series. First remake was telecasted by CBS
from 1985 to 1989 and it contained 65 episodes. And after a long time
the second series was built and ran from 2002 to 2003 on UPN. The UPN
series contained 44 episodes. The original series of The Twilight
Zone were started on CBS in 1959 and ran till 1964. During these six
years it completed 156 episodes. A feature film, a radio series, a
comic book, a magazine and various other spin-offs of this series
were built soon after cancelation of the series.
The original writer
stopped writing for the series after completing two third of the
series. And then the stories were adopted from other authorities.
Some of the most common authorities were Charles Beaumont, Richard
Matheson, Jerry Sohl, George Clayton Johnson, Earl Hamner, Jr.,
Reginald Rose, Harlan Ellison and Ray Bradbury. Some of the classic
stories were also adopted by the author. Mainly the classic stories
written by Ambrose Bierce, Lewis Padgett, Jerome Bixby and Damon
Knight, were adopted.
The original meaning
of the word Twilight Zone was the “gray area”. Rod Serling chose
the title and after the starting of the series he told that the term
is also used in U.S Army. They meant it the border between the night
and day on a planetary body.
